Wonderful Wildwood, New Jersey

Jersey Shore has some of the destinations in the crowd going. However, a popular resort, Wildwoods, is truly happening place and well worth the trip despite the crowds.

Much of this venerable beach community took off in 1950 with the opening of the Garden State Parkway and Atlantic City Expressway. Many of the hotels are still gracing the area still reflects the look of the fifties: the tail fins, big hair, Elvis, and more. The old hotels with a bit of tackiness to be sure, but still a fun place to check out.

is a two-mile boardwalk trek laced with all kinds of shops selling saltwater taffy, t-shirts, jewelry, games, rides, junk food, you name it. If you do not like to walk, tram cars will take you to the end or at any point in between. Soon you will hear the famous "watch the tram car" shooting arising out of the car and all you have to do is flag one down, hop on, and you're off.

the beach is free, incidentally. And, it is very wide especially NJ standards. Most people are familiar with the Jersey Shore know that many beaches are razor thin. This beach has sand added to it constantly, and of course according to tidal waters, it is at least 1 / 4 mile of waterfront for surfing [at low tide, it is ].

Wildwood now has a conference center built on the beach, a new drive sticking out of the piers. Historic Cape May, home to more than 600 Victorian house, just four miles to the south and a great place to visit when you tire of the waterfront scene. Atlantic City is one hour to the north and is a frequent side destination, especially on rainy days. Alternatively, you can escape to the county zoo for the day in Cape May Court House.

The best time to go to the Wildwoods during July and August because the water temperature may be too cold before that time. However, most of the hotel has an outdoor heated swimming pool May you prefer to salt water.

village is changing and many old buildings were demolished and replaced with condos. Preservationists are trying to keep the family theme of welcoming, so it remains to be seen what the future will be a resort. In the meantime, grab a beach towel and your sunscreen and head over to the beautiful, Wildwood, NJ!
